Vanessa Naghdi is an Iranian-American originally from the Washington, D.C., area. A diverse performing artist, Vanessa performs in opera, musical theater, concerts, and recitals. She recently completed an eight-month residency with Opera Colorado as an Artist in Residence. Vanessa performed and covered Nannetta in Falstaff, created the role of Mrs. Soep and covered Ina Soep in the world premiere opera Steal a Pencil for Me, performed Adina in The Elixir of Love and debuted Clorinda in the premiere of Cinderella (touring productions), and covered Musetta in La Bohème with the company. She has been the soprano soloist in Rutter’s Magnificat, excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, and Bach’s cantata Der Her denket an uns, BWV 196. Vanessa will be returning to Arizona Opera this season as an Education Teaching Artist, performing in touring productions and community events. She earned her master's degree at ASU and was a member of the Chamber Singers for two years.
