SONGS AND DANCES
Euphony’s singers welcome Diego Miranda, guitar; Daniel Kim, clarinet; Spencer Ekenes, violin; Alex Duke, cello; Alex Lieferman, percussion; and Nathan Arch, piano for a lively program of music inspired by the dance! Featured is the WORLD PREMIERE of local composer Marlynn Rey’s TANGOS, to poetry by Chilean writer Gabriela Mistral. We also present Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s flamenco-inspired ROMANCERO GITANO, to poetry of Garcia Lorca, Eric Whitacre’s FIVE HEBREW LOVE SONGS, and “Two-Step and Drag” from Libby Larsen’s delightful DANCE SET, a tribute in scat syllables to popular American dance styles. And for a Halloween treat, how about ending with Van Morrison’s MOONDANCE! It’s a toe-tapping afternoon you won’t want to miss!
